ISURF #
5069
Summary:
ISURF #5069 improves the end results for fractured long bones by utilizing 3D printing technology to produce individualized and high-tolerance bone rods. They are manufactured with FDA approved matertials. This technology allows increased control and rotation of long bone movement as compared to traditional methods of treatment, and yields better results in the quality and strength of the treated bone.
Development Stage:
This technology is currently being prototyped and tested.
Description:
Current methods used to heal fractures in long bones may cause rotation that consequently causes non-uniform formation of callus tha later becomes bone. This results in improper healing of a bone fracture, especially in the long bones of the body and can result in short term and long-term problems. The quality of newly formed bone is highly dependent on the level strain from walking throughout the healing process. This new design overcomes these deficiencies by increasing control of movement and improving the quality and strength of the bone fracture joint. ISURF #5069 overcomes these deficiencies by better controlling movement and improving the quality and strength of the bone fracture joint.
